How the textile screen printing process works. 2
Step 4
Press Set-up and Printing : Now that the screens are ready we take them to the manual or the automatic press and align them to print. Once the screen is aligned we print a sample of your artwork and compare it one more time to the approved artwork before your order is printed. (Note: Whenever you get anything printed it is very important to check and double check your proof before it goes to print. The customer is ultimately responsible to make sure that the artwork is correct.) The ink used to print t-shirts is a plastisol ink. It wears well and usually last the life of the shirt.
The ink is pushed through the screen with a squeegee onto the shirt. Light colored inks are applied twice when being placed on a dark colored shirt. If you are printing a multicolored design, then all of the colors must be applied before the garment is removed from the press. A garment can not be returned to the press once it is taken off.

Step 5:
Curing: The shirt is removed from the press and placed upon a conveyor belt where it goes through an oven where the temperatures can reach over 700 degrees. The ink must reach 320 degrees F in order to cure completely. Once the shirt is cured it is taken from the belt, counted, packed and shipped out.
